What body parts does InForm Imaging scan?
At InForm Imaging, we specialize in extremity MRI scans: knees, ankles, feet, elbows, wrists and hands. We do not perform imaging of other anatomical regions (for example, we do not image shoulder, hip, or spine).
Are there any restrictions on what I can eat or drink on the day of the MRI?
No, there are no restrictions on what you can eat or drink on the day of your MRI.
Are there restrictions on what you can wear during the MRI?
No, there are no specific restrictions on what to wear to your MRI appointment. However, if you're having anything from your knees to toes scanned, please wear or bring a pair of shorts so we can easily access the area being imaged.
Do I need a referral from my doctor to receive my MRI?
No, our services are non-diagnostic and not a substitute for diagnostic imaging ordered by a physician.
How do I book my MRI appointment?
You can book your appointment directly online. If you don't see a time that works for you, please call the clinic and we will be happy to accommodate you.
Can I bring a family member or friend to my appointment?
Yes, you're welcome to bring a family member or friend with you to your appointment. There is seating available in the room for them to wait while you complete the scan.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
We have a 12-hour cancellation policy, so please reach out more than 12 hours before your appointment if you need to cancel or reschedule.
How do I get a copy of my MRI images?
InForm Imaging will provide you with a link to access your images online. You will also receive a copy of your radiology report within 1-2 business days after the assessment is completed.
Is the InForm Imaging assessment covered by health insurance?
Private MRI, like that offered at InForm Imaging, is not covered by MSP (Medical Services Plan) as they are not considered medically necessary. If you have private health insurance, we recommend checking with your provider to see if they cover private MRI. Additionally, most Healthcare Spending Accounts (HSAs) can be used to cover private MRI.
How long do I have to wait to get an MRI?
If you are flexible with your timing, we can usually accommodate you within 48 hours. You can see real-time availability by visiting our booking page. If you don't see a time that works for you, or you would like to book over the phone, please contact the clinic at (604) 630-2404.
Where is the MRI clinic located?
InForm Imaging is located inside the FIT TO TRAIN clinic downtown at 808 Nelson Street, Suite #710.
Is parking available?
Yes, the building offers paid underground parking with access from Nelson Street. An elevator is available that takes you up to the clinic. Paid street parking is also available throughout the area.
How long will the MRI take?
Single joint MRI appointments are booked for 60 minutes (which includes paperwork, setup, etc.), with roughly 35 minutes spent on the imaging itself. Dual region MRI appointments are booked for 120 minutes.
What is the difference between an X-ray and MRI?
X-ray is primarily used to assess bone and has limited visualization of soft tissue. MRI is useful for assessing soft tissue (ligaments, tendons, cartilage, muscle) as well as bone. Unlike X-ray, MRI does not involve any ionizing radiation.
